Why Partner?

During the first two years of my cycling hobby, I rode alone. It all started with biking to work and gradually turned into training for my first Century ride. I accomplished everything by myself, and I felt proud of it. I had created something wonderful, fulfilling, and enjoyable for me.

From the very first ride together, my entire perspective on riding and my potential as a cyclist shifted. I had found a group of people who shared similar goals and aspirations for the sport. It didn’t take long for me to form a partnership with these other women, and out of it, I went further and faster as a cyclist than I ever could have gone on my own, sometimes riding over 100 miles a week and tackling challenging routes that I would have been too afraid to try by myself.

Through my group, I rode with riders with different strengths and abilities. Sometimes, I was the coach and sometimes, I was being coached. I got to be the ride leader at times, building my confidence and allowing me to develop new and important skills. I was able to draft others and be drafted to make the longer rides easier for us all. I got to explore roads and routes that were either too dangerous to do alone or that I had no idea existed.

Partnerships are precious. They can open doors, compensate for your weaknesses, and push you further than you ever could go on your own. This is just as true for our partnerships in the workplace. To reach our full potential, we need the help of others. This help can come in the form of a mentor, a coach, or even an entire company that complements our abilities. Collaboration and unity are essential. Find the people that complement your abilities and work together. By doing so, you can achieve more than you ever thought possible.
